Steel Beasts Pro PE 2.483 update  (700 MB,  9/2/09)

You MUST have a CodeMeter stick (USB Dongle) with an SB Pro PE license in order to run this update!

Steel Beasts Pro PE 2.370 Beta  (535 MB,  12/11/07)

You MUST have a CodeMeter stick (USB Dongle) with an SB Pro PE license in order to run this beta! This beta version of SB Pro PE can be installed in parallel with the current release of SB Pro PE. (It will not overwrite the current release of SB Pro PE.)  The download comes in six parts.  Download all six parts into the same folder and extract the installation files by double clicking on the part1 exe file. Once the installation files have been extracted, run setup.exe to install the beta.

Update 2.328 for Steel Beasts Pro PE  (10 MB,  1/22/07)

Do you need this update?  Start Start Pro PE and look in the upper right corner of the main menu screen to find the version number.  If the version number is less than 2.328, you should download this update. This update is NOT for SB Pro PE ANZAC users!  (A separate update will be made available to you through ANZAC.)

Minimum version: Please ensure that you are running at least version 2.304 of SB Pro PE. (If not, download and install the 2.304 -- update below -- along with any of its required updates.)

Microsoft DirectX 9C runtime: In order to run this update, you will need to install DirectX 9c, December 2006 Edition. If you have a older DirectX9c install, it will not work.  The Microsoft DirectX 9c, December Edition - End user runtime can be found here:

Codemeter (dongle) software update: This SB Pro PE update requires that the software for the Codemeter stick be updated as well. You can download this from the link below.

*** Before you begin - be sure to back up any files/work that you want to keep. This includes scenarios, terrain maps, etc. ***

  • Save SBProPE2_328Update.zip to your computer
  • Unzip SBProPE2_328Update.exe from the archive.
  • Run SBProPE2_328Update.exe. The installer will ask for your install location. If you installed SB Pro PE in a non-default location, then be sure to change this.
  • Start Pro PE and confirm that you have 2.328 in the upper right corner of the main menu.

Update 2.304 for Steel Beasts Pro PE  (100 MB,  11/13/06)

Do you need this update?  Start Start Pro PE and look in the upper right corner of the main menu screen to find the version number.  If the version number is less than 2.304, you should download this update. This update is NOT for SB Pro PE ANZAC users!  (A separate update will be made available to you through ANZAC.)

Minimum version: Please ensure that you are running at least version 2.262 of SB Pro PE. (If not, download and install the 2.262 updated below.)

Codemeter (dongle) software update: This SB Pro PE update requires that the software for the Codemeter stick be updated as well. You can download this from the link below.

  • Save SBProPE2_304Update.zip to your computer
  • Unzip SBProPE2_304Update.exe from the archive.
  • Run SBProPE2_304Update.exe. The installer will ask for your install location. If you installed SB Pro PE in a non-default location, then be sure to change this.
  • Download the latest Codemeter software here and install it on your system.  The SB update will not run without the latest Codemeter software!
  • Start Pro PE and confirm that you have 2.304 in the upper right corner of the main menu.

  • Unzip SBProPE_2_273Update.exe from the archive.
  • Run SBProPE_2_273Update.exe. The installer will ask for your install location. If you installed SB Pro PE in a non-default location, then be sure to change this.
  • Start Pro PE and confirm that you have 2.273 in the upper right corner of the main menu.

*** First check to see if you need this update.  Start SB Pro PE and look at the version number in the upper right-hand corner of the main menu.  If the version number is greater than or equal to 2.262, then you do not need this update. ***

  • Save SBProPEUpdate2_262.exe to your computer
  • Double click SBProPEUpdate2_262.exe.
  • Start Pro PE and confirm that you have 2.262 in the upper right corner of the main menu.

Steel Beasts Gold - Missing-Map Patch  (20 kB,  4/22/02)

This patch will install a missing terrain map to Steel Beasts Gold. Without this map, an error message will pop up whenever starting the mission editor. The missing map does NOT result in any loss of functionality in SB Gold, but the error message is annoying.

To install the upgrade, first create a temporary folder on you computer, called SBTemp. (You can do this using Windows Explorer.) Click on a link below and save the file to SBTemp.  After the download is complete, find SBGoldPatch.zip in SBTemp and unzip the contents into SBTemp. (You will need a program like WinZip or JustZIPit to do this.)  Now, find SBGoldPatch.exe in the SBTemp folder and run it. After the upgrade has been successfully installed, you can delete the SBTemp folder.

Steel Beasts v1.226 Upgrade  (1.6MB,  5/1/02)

This upgrade should be installed ONLY over v1.195 or greater!  
You do NOT need this upgrade if you have SB Gold!
(You can verify the version number by looking at the upper right hand corner of the splash screen when you start up SB.) If you have an earlier version, install v1.195 upgrade below first!

To install the upgrade, first create a temporary folder on you computer, called SBTemp. (You can do this using Windows Explorer.) Click on a link below and save the file to SBTemp.  After the download is complete, find SBUpgrade1-226.zip in SBTemp and unzip the contents into SBTemp. (You will need a program like WinZip to do this.)  Now, find SB1-226Upgrade.exe. in the SBTemp folder and run it.  After the upgrade has been successfully installed, you can delete the SBTemp folder.

Steel Beasts v1.195 Upgrade  (8.9MB,  10/8/01)

This upgrade should be installed ONLY over v1.14 or greater!  Download sites:

Steel Beasts (non-retail) v1.14 Upgrade (3.7MB,  2/1/01)

You only need this upgrade if you have the earliest version of SB (which came with a green manual.)   If you bought SB in a retail store, you do NOT need this upgrade!

To install the upgrade, first create a temporary folder on you computer, called SBTemp. (You can do this using Windows Explorer.) Click on a link below and save the file to SBTemp.  After the download is complete, find SBPatch14.zip in SBTemp and unzip the contents into SBTemp. (You will need a program like WinZip to do this.)  Now, find SBPatch14.exe. in the SBTemp folder and run it. You must have the original Steel Beasts CD in order to install this upgrade. After the upgrade has been successfully installed, you can delete the SBTemp folder.

This keyboard chart is the same one that appears on the back of the current manual.  You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader to read the PDF file.
